In other countries, the mass production of the non petroleum based fuel cars had begun since 2-3 years ago. Concern with the ecological preservation, Indonesia is scheduled to launch electric cars this 2013.
At the end of December 2012, Dahlan Iskan, State Owned Enterprises Minister, launched a new electric car with Ferrari look design named Tucuxi. The designer of this car is Danet Suryatama, who was an employee of Chrysler Mobile US.
"With a power of 200 KWh if one compares with European cars, I could
say it still a level below, but if the cc's, yes it has 3,000 to 3,500
cc engines," said Dahlan.
Dahlan, who was also the former managing director of PLN, State Power Company, claimed that power consumption in the new car could last up to
4 hours. In addition, Dahlan also claimed the car could also draw train
carriages. "This car can pull up carriages, very powerful," he said.
Tucuxi, The Next Indonesian Electric Car
"The price is Rp1.5 billion, there are 100 people so far that have made a booking order," said Dahlan.
In the other place, PT Dirgantara Indonesia is also in the track to launch 2 seated mini electric car which is called "Gang Car". From its name (Gang means narrow alley, Gang car is designed for the citizens who lives at narrow alleys. In fact, PT Dirgantara Indonesia had created this mini car 10 years ago, but it was still a petroleum fueled car. In medio of July 2012, Dahlan Iskan ordered the inventor to change the power source from petroleum to electricity.
In big cities like Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya, where air pollution is a major problem to solved, the born of these electric cars hopefully become the best solution. For our health and also for our earth.
